The Cm Ensemble was an outlet for multi-instrumentalist Nick Hodgson (now Nick Harte) to explore territories covering free jazz, improv and noise. By ultilising his numerous musical talents and pulling in other musicians from various spheres he built up an impressive catalogue of recorded material on his own CM Productions label over a 4 year period. Other 'official' releases were rare with one CD, Love Central, on Metonymic and two releases on Peter Wright's Apoplexy imprint, a 7" lathe cut called Total War, and an acoustic group effort called Last Refuge Of The Insane.
