Artist
Buster B. Jones was a master of the guitar styles of Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and Jerry Reed. He explored their music, styles and techniques but developed his own unique style and depth. Buster was known as a blazing-fast and dynamic player and was given the nickname "The Machine Gun" by admiring fans in France, but his original compositions exposed a lyrical and gentler side to his musical personality. Buster B. Jones performed his high-octane fingerpicking "in eight countries and twenty-eight states" and was a featured artist at the annual Chet Atkins Appreciation Society gathering in Nashville. In 1988, he won 1st Place in Guitar Player's prestigious International Competition, and followed it up by taking 1990's National Fingerstyle Championship in Winfield, Kansas. "Buster B. Jones is the best fingerpicker I've heard since Jerry Reed. He plays like he's double parked." β Chet Atkins Buster died February 2, 2009, in Eugene, Oregon.
