Radio Ready is the debut album of Bungalo 6, a nine-person funk collective that brings a fresh twist to pop music. Combining elements of funk, R&B, rock, jazz, latin and even gospel, the CD blurs genre boundaries and reclaims the soulful excitement of groups like Earth Wind and Fire, James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Tower of Power. Featuring sassy vocals backed by powerful dance grooves and funky horn lines, Radio Ready certainly lives up to its name. Founded in 2006 by Virgina-based composer/ trumpet player Mark Ingraham, Bungalo 6 is comprised of some of the most talented young musicians in the Richmond area, many of whom have recently graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University’s renowned jazz program. Although the band is only two years old, many of the members have been performing together since their early college years. These long-standing friendships have been a major advantage to the group’s dynamic both on and off the bandstand. While nine buddies getting together and making music may seem like all fun and games, their focus and professionalism clearly cuts through in the finished product.
