The songs of Brown Eye Superfly are filled with tales of loss, regret, jealousy and love turned bad. Like a collection of short stories, shot through with themes of relationships turned sour. Each track has it's own flavour - blues, jazz, funk, soul – all rubbed up against the hard rock that drives the band's sound to create something raw, but filled with hooks and a depth that rewards the listener time and again. The songs seem to provoke a clash between the words and music - a song may have an upbeat style, but listen closely and the lyrics uncover a dark heart that the casual listener might miss.
