Broken Radio started out as a solo project by German singer songwriter Klaus Patzak. The story goes back to 1991 when Klaus recorded a song called "Rain", which was released on the critically acclaimed lo-fi compilation "Hausmusik". Klaus' main band in the nineties was a folk-rock group named Borrowed Tunes. They recorded two full length albums and a six song EP while touring Texas in 1997. In the band’s long process of breaking up Klaus was looking for new ways to play and record his music and so he started experimenting with computers. Combining modern production techniques with traditional songwriting became the musical idea behind the project Broken Radio. The first song that resulted out of this concept was "Trouble", released on "Jimmy Gimmi More" a Hausmusik compilation from 1998 followed by "End Of The Road" on "Testbildreihe" one year later. "Do You Think That I'll be Different When You're Through?" featured Broken Radio's "Something To Live For" among artists like Calexico, Console, Lali Puna, Loopspool or Barbara Manning. "One Way Trip" was released on 2006's "You Can’t Always Listen to Hausmusik, But..." which also included the track "No Honky Tonks Around Here", Broken Radio's collaboration with the band Jersey from Berlin. "Living Stereo" the first full length Broken Radio album scheduled for release early in 2008 has been a work in progress for years and was originally supposed to be out in 2003.
