Artist
“Every now and then a new artist comes along who causes you to wonder where he has been all your life. Brett Goldsmith’s voice is both unique and easily soothing. It’s right in the middle and a worthy accompaniment to the acoustic guitar based tales of love, longing and loss. While not quite pop or straight ahead rock, it has folk and indie-rock sensibilities. Recorded solo in his studio in the rural countryside out of Melbourne Australia, he sounds like an awesome combination of Bon Iver, John Mayer, The Fray, and The Wallflowers. A thoroughly modern work, combining intimate, evocative vocals, sweeping panoramic production, exquisite pop melodies and some revealing lyrics. The songs talk to you in a language you understand and the voice singing them seems immediately familiar. There’s something fully formed about the whole package that makes you sense that the artist is comfortable in his own skin and not the product of an urgent need to follow the latest trend or a desperate desire to seem different and to fit in at the same time.” Goldsmith works In Australia as a fashion & exhibiting photographer. Trivia: Goldsmith is the nephew of Olivia Newton-John and has written and produced for her forthcoming 2011 release. He is the great-grandson of Max Born, German theoretical physicist and Nobel Prize winner for Quantum Physics.
