Artist
Brendan Welch (born 1984) is from Melbourne, Victoria. Subtle acoustic guitar meshes along side Brendan's mystifying and haunting voice, which is seemingly battle-scarred and weathered, but is in fact the dawning of a new creative force in roots music. Brendan was discovered only recently and up until late 2005 had never stepped foot inside a studio or played a gig. Word spread quickly of this young man, whose voice, styling and honest approach to song writing and performing attracted comparisons to Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen and Woody Guthrie. In that short space of time he has supported Tim Rogers & The Temperance Union, Mick Hart and most recently Paul Kelly on his east coast run. To support the release of The Unbeat, Brendan will be touring the country with his band and doing some supports with The Whitlams. Brendan Welch's music is soaked in tradition, his approach is naturally reserved and his future is unbelievably bright. 22 year old troubadour Brendan Welch releases his debut EP 'The Unbeat' on February 27 on Fur Records through Shock. Brendan has been receiving fantastic exposure on theTriple J network through his debut lead single 'Burn'.
