Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and raised in New York, Brendaly was surrounded by Latin and American influences that are comprised of salsa, rock and pop music. Her cultural duality makes her an artist that one would expect to hear Latin rhythms and percussions such as congas and bongos but also a pop/rock flair with a hint of Spanish guitar. “With great pride, I was brought up listening to the music of Ednita Nazario, Sophie, Santana, Juan Luis Guerra as well as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Eric Clapton. These are the fusions reflected in my music.” At a young age, Brendaly knew that music was her calling. She had a need to communicate and write about her feelings; the stories and the realities that strongly affected her along with the fantasies that filled her dreams. “I was always interested in music and singing but my daughter convinced me many years ago to enter a singing contest in which I received a call back. That was when I realized I wanted to pursue music as a career and my search for the stage began.” Now in 2010, revamped, dedicated and with a musical rebirth, “Mi Destino” is the title she chooses for her new production. It is an evolution of her sound, one that is alive and optimistic. Personally selected the repertoire, authorized writing and assisted in blending the passionate rhythms that are the earmarks of this production.
