Brando Skirts is the aural lovechild of artists Carter Maness and Mike Jacobs. The two composed their debut album - Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo - at a house in downtown Tucson and released the artifact on Proyekto Records in the summer of 2006. Whilst recording the duo pasted a giant sign in the studio that read ALL BEEF, and this idiom drove everything thereafter. Soundwise, things are defined by constant lefthand turns. Marching band drums mix with orchestral guitar symphonies, Cage techniques are played with in the context of washing machine improvisation. A character named Boris pops up a few times. The lyrics are wry and foreboding throughout with an obsession on religion and the political implications of bomb shelters.
