Bob en de Alco's is a 2008 band from Assen, Netherlands. Drawing influences from pop music, but also jazz and the blues, the music is quite diverse. The band members were already together in another band, but as the keyboardist left the band, they decided to stay together, and keep performing some of the songs they had already played for some time. During a show in Groningen, they had to come up with a name, and they agreed on Bob en de Alco's for the evening. However, they decided that it would be their bandname, as it fitted perfectly with themselves. Each band member had some years of experience with their respective instruments, resulting in quite interesting music, which is usually fun to listen to. Perhaps the most interesting song is 'Toxic', which is a cover of the same song by Britney Spears, however, the style changed to hard rock, and the vocals were replaced by lead guitar. In june 2008, the band was forced to split up, as the lead guitarist was moving to Tilburg, to attend the Rockacademie there. Bob en de Alco's consisted of: Lior van 't Hof - Guitar (lead) Richard van Velzen - Guitar Tijs Hardenbol - Bass Machiel Veldkamp - Drums They also have a site, at www.bobendealcos.nl, which is in Dutch.
