Composer and arranger Bob Zimmerman is known for his film scores for the films “De Electriseringmachine van Wimshurst” by Erik van Zuylen (1978), “An Bloem” by Peter Oosthoek (1983), "De Avonden", "For my baby" (1997), "Snapshots" (2002), "Tirza" (2010) and "Süskind" (2012) by Rudolf van den Berg and the music for the documentary "Staal & Lavendel" about Cornelis Verolme (2007). Zimmerman was born in 1948 in Amsterdam. He grew up in a cultural family and wrote his first compositions at the age of seven. He studied clarinet at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and then followed a second study with piano as main instrument. After his studies he started working for various theater productions, where he quickly made a name for himself. Bob Zimmerman wrote music for the short film “De Electriseringmachine van Wimshurst” by Erik van Zuylen (1978) and the feature film “An Bloem” by Peter Oosthoek (1983). The LP with the music of this film was played by the Schoenberg Ensemble conducted by Reinbert de Leeuw and won an Edison in 1984. In 1982 he started a collaboration with comedian Seth Gaaikema, which would last until 2000. In addition, since 1995, he is the vocal coach of the a cappella singing group Montezuma's Revenge. He is also one of the regular arrangers of the Metropole Orchestra. In 1989 he wrote his first film score for the film De Avonden by Rudolf van den Berg.
