Blue Funk & The Conscious Party - Shut Up and Drive CDBaby Review: Wow . . . What a Ride !! Taken as a whole, or the songs individually, this cd defies catagorization, if that is necessary at all. Betweem themselves and individually within, these songs are both electic and cosmic at the same time. That is, within a given song Steve's guitar tone and style, as well as the timing and rhythm of the entire song may change two or three times. The obvious reason for this is that he has so much to offer within the limited space of one cd. While when attempted by most, they usually fail miserably with the result being an incoherent mess, Steve pulls it off masterfully. As a hardcore blues/rock enthusiast, this is admittedly fringe element stuff. But the music is so compelling as an "album",i.e., a musical journey, it's well worth the $10 price of admission.
