Bloodlights is a hard rock band formed in Oslo, Norway in 2006. You'd think ten years of broken guitar strings, cramped fingers, and cold hotel rooms would be enough to make any rocker at least consider taking a break from his chosen profession. Not Captain Poon. It took him "about two seconds" to realize what to do after his seminal hard rock outfit Gluecifer broke up in 2005: start another band. That new band is Bloodlights. The name comes from the phenomenon of seeing red flashes right before passing out after consuming too much "of everything." It is especially common in colder regions, such as Scandinavia and the Yukon, where excessive consumption of everything is often mandatory just to make it through the night. With Bloodlights Captain Poon stepped into the role as both vocalist and guitarplayer. Joining him in this new musical endeavor are bassist Ron Elly, guitarplayer Howie B., drummer Jonas Thire who got replaced in May 2007 by Nico. Early critics have tagged the band as rough but melodic, but the boys don't tend to think about a particular sound when they're writing. As long as it's got power and soul, it's Bloodlights. In January 2007, after more than a year of songwriting, and hundreds of hours spent in their rehearsalroom in Oslo, Bloodlights went to a studio in Berlin to cut their debut record.
