Artist
Blanca Uribe was born in Bogota, Colombia into a family of many generations of professional musicians. She studied in Vienna at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Art with Richard Hauser and in New York at The Juilliard School with Rosina Lhevinne and Martin Canin. Her extensive repertoire ranges from Scarlatti to works of the present. Particularly notable are her interpretations of the 32 Sonatas of Beethoven, which she performed in cycle on several occasions, and the complete Iberia of Isaac Albéniz. Her appearances as concerto soloist include with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the American Symphony, the Berlin Symphony, the Vienna Symphony, the Residentie Orkest of the Hague, and all of the major orchestras in Colombia. On the MSR Classics label, Ms. Uribe may be heard in the last five sonatas of Beethoven. Her early recording of Albéniz’s Iberia has received wide currency. She has given master classes in Spain, South Korea, Canada, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and at the Eastman School, Peabody Conservatory and other colleges and universities in the United States. She has served on the juries of the Beethoven Competition in Vienna, the Busoni Competition in Bolzano, the AXA Competition in Dublin, the Honens Competition in Canada, the Santander Competition in Spain, and the Cleveland International Competition.
