BlackCat WhiteCat (BCWC) were formed by Stuart Allcock and Kim Stokes. Stuart and Kim found one another via the Internet, living nearby in sunny Wandsworth. Music writing sessions were a weekly event, hours spent in a small bedroom with a mac, mic and a guitar, each song taking shape through practice and experimentation. Stuart added to his instrument collection and recorded each instrument to create some rough demos. Are these songs too short? They would muse and ponder, eventually deciding that since they were more or less writing pop music, it didn't matter. Inspiration for band names can come from anywhere, as it was, a flick through the Guardian's feature on 1000 films to see before you die, produced the film of a similar name. The band have still not seen the film, but have taken the name for their own. A BlackCat who is also a WhiteCat. Is the glass half empty or half full? Can it both be negative and positive at the same time, or does it have to be black or white? Do the differences and opposites in people make life interesting and worth living? The balance of a clear tone with a distorted guitar, the sadness of heart with a catchy pop tune. Sadly BCWC is no more but the music will live on here.
