“I do what I do because I love it. For me, it’s not about the fame or the money. I mean obviously I want those things, but I do this because it’s who I am... and it’s the only thing I haven’t quit.” responds Black Matter, when asked why he chose to become a music producer and dj. 23 year old Jesse See Tai is no stranger to the EDM scene. As Jesse Jamz, he consistently toured the US and remixed the likes of Designer Drugs, Figure, Richard Vission and many more, long before it was even legal for him to have a drink. He was on the rise, but at the same time a change was slowly creeping over him. At the onset of 2011 a transformation began as Jesse Jamz burned to ashes... from them, rose Black Matter. Black Matter’s premier year was an exciting one. From coast to coast he left his mark on America’s most renowned parties, including Control at Avalon (LA), Girls & Boys at Webster Hall (NYC), and Blow Up at DNA Lounge (SF) just to name a few. But he didn’t stop there, he also made his way to Puerto Rico, Canada, Europe, and Asia,where he played with the likes of Avicii and Dada Life at Seoul’s 2011 World DJ Festival. He was then invited by Designer Drugs to tour the east coast in a Lincoln limo for two and a half weeks on the Sex Cult Initiation Tour. It wasn’t all touring and partying though.
