about

Black Heart Republic formed by the din of a rail yard back in 2008 in Buffalo, NY. The band writes music that is more thought provoking (lyrically and musically), while holding to the rock standard song structure. We reach outside the 16 year-old laments of “why did they break my heart?” We move into more adult questions of life, politics and religion. Black Heart Republic’s members all bring incredible talent and inspiration to their craft. Charging anthems with unconventional melodies, the songs themes mixed with the bleak political and social landscape, as well as the inner feelings of fear, loss and love. Ed Strawbrich’s guitar work ranges from a punk/metal sound like Four Years and Gadfly to the haunting guitar playing on songs like Black Valentines Day and Your Blue Room. As a true composer he arranges each song to engage the listener by challenging them with new sounds. All the while Dave Wilkes, Bill Pegg and Chris Doyle back the band with unconventional rhythms and sonic sounds while driving each song to rock.
