Artist
There are two artists named Black Flowers: (1) Wyrd Brit folk 'supergroup' centred around Alex Neilson and Lavinia Blackwall, a couple who have also graced other projects, Trembling Bells and Directing Hand. Lavinia also plays harp, psaltery and organ. Michael Flower plays guitar and Glaswegian singer/songwriter Alasdair Roberts, plays guitar and shares vocals with Lavinia on the traditional "Polly On The Shore". Their 2009 album "I Grew From A Stone To A Statue". references both folk and rock and includes a radical reworking of Richard Thompson's "Calvary Cross". The Wire's Rob Young described the record as "a bracing set of spontaneous fuzzdrone minstelry". (2) Black Flowers (sometimes written as Blackflowers) is an ambient alias of electronic musician TREVØR. The project has released one single, "Death".
