The band begins in January 2004, in Montevideo, Uruguay, with Marianoise, Mariana and Evelyn, mainly influenced by Punk Rock music and the Riot Grrrl movement. The lyrics are for the most part written in English, and cover a wide range of topics, such as adolescence, society and inner conflicts. The songs are pretty fast and short in length. Half-way through that same year, Black Cloud decides to record its first demo tape and to promote it among the scene. Around October, the band makes its live debut. Since then, there have been nonstop live performances on several venues in Montevideo (the capital city) and the rest of the country. In the early 2005, Shaela arrives to the band to take charge of vocals. Form that moment on, the Black Cloud increases its power, thanks to her singing strength, consolidating the band’s style. Nevertheless, the band keeps constantly nourishing itself from the large musical variety that influences each member individually. In July 2005, Black Cloud takes part in The United Girls II Fest (a women’s festival of art and music), in which it shares stage with some of the most important bands amongst the same music genre: The Brainerds and She-Devils, from Uruguay and Argentina respectively. In the beginning of 2006 Black Cloud records its second demo tape: “The WORST Of…” . The song “What Would It Take For You (To Murder)”, makes part of a compilation album of Latin-American female bands (Femme Rock II) released in Bolivia. Later on, the band h
