Biyouna is an Algerian singer, dancer and actress, born in 1954, in Algiers. Since young she was used to sing at wedding parties. At 17 she was introduced at ont of the main cabarets of Algiers and at 19 she became a dancer at Copacabana. In the same year, the procuder Mustapha Bedie gave her the role of Fatma in La Grande Maison (The Big House) (1973), an adaption on the novel by Mohamed Dib. Her performance then gave her celebrity. She played in two Algerian movies: Leila et les autres (Lailah and the others), by Sis Ali Mazi, in 1978, and La voisine (The neighbour woman), by Ghaouti Bendedouche in 2000, and she becomes a one-woman-show. In 1999, Nadir Moknèche gives her the role of Meriem in Le Harem de madame Osmane (Mme. Osmane's Harem), that is played in France. This film is followed by Viva Laldjérie (Viva Algeria) in 2003. Meanwhile Biyouna continues her singer career and issues in 2001 the Raid Zone album, realised by composer John Bagnolett.
