Formed in 2016, the band was initially named Adobo Toothpaste before adopting their current moniker, which combines lead vocalist Sofy Aldeguer’s childhood nickname "Bita" with "the Botflies," referencing parasitic insects that grow inside human flesh—a nod to their provocative and unsettling aesthetic. The band’s lineup includes Sofy Aldeguer on vocals, her father Rebel Aldeguer on bass, Kevin Novenario-Navea on guitar, and Mark Lincallo on drums. Their music delves into complex narratives, often addressing issues such as the objectification of women, domestic violence, and societal injustices. For instance, their track "Sisikat Ka Iha" critiques the exploitation of young women in the entertainment industry, while "Peklat Cream" tells the story of a woman experiencing domestic abuse. In 2019, Bita and the Botflies released their debut studio album, Peklat Cream, which was followed by the single "Guillotine Drops" in 2021.
