Bingo Trappers come straight out of Amsterdam. They debuted somewhere in 1995, and instantly became one of the most popular bands of the belgian-dutch lofi wave of that time. In a press release they were stated as being ' one of the most promising indiepopbands in holland' . Core of the band is Waldemar Noë, a veteran in the Amsterdam-scene. When Wim Elzinga suggested Waldemar to record some tracks at his place, Bingo trappers were born. In less then a year, they released the tape 'More Soul' on the infamous Shrimper label. Critics claim it to be one of the best releases on this label. Waldemar on the first Bingo Trappers show: "It was at a childrens party. It was somewhere out of town in a kind of barn. And we played covers of Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, and it was all very chaotic, I think". Actually, the chaotic-country element is an important element in the Bingo Trappers' sound during the first five years. By the time their first LP, 'Sierra Nevada' came out, somewhere in 1997, they had appeared on tons of compilations and released some more tapes. It wasn't untill january 2001, that the band released their first CD-only release, 'Juanita Ave.' on Animal World Recordings. To much critical acclaim: Juanita Ave. was even mentioned in the Rolling Stone COOL-issue. A few months later this was followed by a split tape in the soup versus potatoe series on Morc.
