Billy T Band is one of Norway's leading bands in the blues/soul genre. Their sound is steeped in Classic American Soul, Blues, R&B and Swamp Rock. They won the "Norwegian Grammy" (Spellemannprisen 2010) for best blues album in 2011 for their critically acclaimed album "L.O.V.E. (just a silly notion)" – BIGHCD1201). Billy T Band has just released their 3rd album "Mo-Billy-T" (october 2012) on Big H Records. The album has been well recieved by the audiance and critics and received Spellemannprisen 2012 (Norwegian Grammy) for best blues album. Billy T Band did also win 2nd price in ISC 2012 for their song "Don't Blow My Cover". The Band is lead by William "Bill" Troiani who sums up the band's sound as "music from my wasted youth"! Bill was born and raised in New York City, and played and recorded with Eddie ”Bluesman” Kirkland for 12 years, and the Tom Russell Band for 10 years. Along the way , he worked with such diverse artists as Lightning Hopkins and Nancy Griffith. After moving to Oslo Norway in 1997, Billy T ran the house band at the ”Muddy Waters” blues club for 7 years, helping to launch the young Norwegian talents Amund Maarud and Kid Andersen (now with Rick Estrin & the Nightcats). At ”Muddy Waters” they had the opportunity to backup a respectable number of famous blues musicians, including Homesick James, Nappy Brown, Willie ”Big Eyes” Smith, Bill Sims and Tad Robinson, to name a few. ”Muddy’s” has closed, but the band plays on.
