Billy Ruffian's debut single "Death of a Band" nearly came true, but onward they march as a recently stripped-down three piece. Vocalist Stephen Ruffian previously fronted Dead Men Win Fights, whose short but spectacular career gained the interest of record labels and the approval of Mark E. Smith (not always a common combination). He is accompanied by Thom Cuell (guitars; ex-Midland Railway) and Ben Paul (bass, vocals, and drum programming). Formed in 2005, they have peddled their own brand of Dandy-Rock at gigs across Manchester, UK, including Pangaea at Academy 3 and a residency at Fight This at Joshua Brookes, and at Bar Korova in Liverpool and The Vine in Leeds, making their name as an exciting live act. Billy Ruffian have played with the likes of Philip Jeays, Amida, The Ending Of, Parasol Star, Nick Ainsworth, The Nightjars, Working For A Nuclear Free City, Our Fold, The Amelies, Dirty Circus, The Brunettes and Midland Railway (with whom they released a split EP). After losing their drummer, bassist, lead guitarist and trumpet player at the end of Summer 2006 however, all of the momentum seemed lost, but they regrouped and, with the help of a trusty drum machine, they began to play gigs again and in January 2007 were signed to Filthy Little Angels for whom they have recorded their debut album "My Secret Life".
