Leila Gharib: vocals and guitar Giorgio Pighi: bass guitar Gianni Brunellii: drums During the hot summer 2003, a high dose of stamina and energy gives birth to BIKINI THE CAT. The overall sound of the band is direct, at times raw and powerful, at times sweet and melodic. In 2004 the band recorded a demo getting a critical acclaim. They won the second prize at a big competiton called AREZZO WAVE, with the collaboration of the italian newspaper "La Repubblica". Two songs were included in the soundtrack of the movie titled “Una talpa al bioparco” directed by Fulvio Ottaviano with Giorgia Surina (MTV vj). In 2005 the band released the first LP: “Cold water, hot water, very hot water” (La Matricula/Venus). This record received excellent reviews by most national newspapers: ROCKSOUND: “Flashed! This is the right word to describe my mood after having listened to the fantastic italian trio...” ALL MUSIC: “Impetuosity, talent and excellent ability in mix different styles”. ROCKSTAR: “An exciting debut, Bikini the Cat are impressive, they take back the noise and dirty to the indie sound and they mix it with a very personal style and musical point of view”. The summer of 2005 they won the first edition of HEINEKEN JAMMIN CONTEXT. They partecipated to the most important italian music festival named HEINEKEN JAMMIN FESTIVAL AND ROCK IN IDRO, and opened to several artists such as Nofx, The Hives, Offspring, Rem and Oasis.
