Big Brown Cow is the solo live project of Sprain and Shearling frontman Alexander Gregory Kent. Dealing in a far more intimate and stripped back sound than the maximalist Noise Rock Kent is known for, Big Brown Cow has become Kent's primary solo stage name. There have been a variety of concerts done under this pseudonym, particularly booked with the involvement of LA local, performance artist, and experimental musician Hollywood Johnny. Many of the concerts done under this pseudonym have been recorded and uploaded online by a variety of sources of varying quality. The most beloved, officially backed, and high quality recordings of this project have predominantly been done by California-based recording group and record label Dead Mothers Collective, with the March 22, 2024 and May 25, 2025 recordings being extremely high quality and popular examples of the project. Dead Mothers Collective commonly record Kent's other endeavors as well, such as Shearling, and have been placed as a cornerstone of underground "post-everything" music. Kent has stated on multiple occasions that the purpose of this pseudonym is primarily to be a testing ground for tracks that will be released under his key projects, most notably Shearling. Songs such as (unofficial titles used): "Glued to my Reflection", "Daniel", "Undressed", and "Love Me" have all been either confirmed to be for or actually utilized within Shearling tracks, and more are allegedly to come as there are no plans for any studio mate
