Bertalan Hock (born 1953 in Budapest) is a Hungarian organist. Biography After graduating from high school, he obtained a diploma in electrical engineering, then worked for two years as a transformer-design engineer at Ganz Electric Works. In addition to the Technical College, he began his organ studies with István Baróti. As a student, he was able to participate in the excavation and performance of the ruined large Mooser organ of the Esztergom Cathedral for years. He also learned the theoretical foundations here. He continued his studies at the Academy of Music with Ferenc Gergely, and at the same time he was appointed organist in the Matthias Church in Buda Castle, where he surveyed the Rieger grand organ and in 1983 carried out the designer-expert work of the renovation. Since then, he has been working as an artist and organist of the church. After graduating as an organist, he continued his studies at the Weimar Academy of Music on a scholarship with Professor Rainer Böhme. Gerhard Böhm also learned about handicrafts in his organ building workshop in Gotha. As an organist performing concerts all over Europe, he had the opportunity to look into instruments, carry out surveys, comparative studies, and learn about the practice of organ building and restoration. Since 1989 he has been teaching organ and instrument skills at the György Solti Music School in Budapest.
