Artist
Bernard Oglesby was born in 1962 in Dublin. He is a professional artist, designer and composer and has exhibited and published internationally. His practice is complex and extensive in its range but is fixed by a deep and telling sculptural framework. One can not escape the sense of space, detail, volume and intimacy so evident in his works. Wether through film, sound, music or photography the references remain the same, those of love, loss and longing. It is clear that his influences are narrow, historical and fundamentally european and its no surprise that he sites Arvo Part, Alexander Petrovic and Andrei Tarkovsky as seminal creative influences now and in the past. He currently is based in the UK and Romania where he is involved in making a film based upon the din străinătate poem by O. Nimigean.
