Bernadette Conant: website / facebook Monterey, CA Bernadette has always had a love for music. Growing up she would stand on the top of the stairs like it was her stage and sing all her favorites tunes like Love Story, Oh Danny Boy, and Wild World. It wasn’t until she was 16 that she picked up the old guitar her uncle gave her and learned to play her first three chords. Almost immediately she began writing songs, but at first it was just a hobby and creative outlet. During her senior year of high school, Bernadette went to her first open mic and found she loved being able to share her music with an audience. After high school, Bernadette concentrated solely on music and songwriting. Always striving to improve her craft, she dedicated herself to writing songs that would captivate and move its’ listeners. Her songs are unique and mesmerizing, yet relatable and simple at the same time. Whenever Bernadette feels stuck or frustrated, she turns to her childhood memories for inspiration. She remembers listening to her favorite Cat Stevens song, “Where Do The Children Play”, and repeating it over and over. Enveloped by her lazy chair, head back and eyes closed, she absorbed every note, and memorized every word. It was in that moment she realized “This must be music...”, a mantra she envisions often when she sits down to write a new song.
