Bernadete França was born in Rio Tinto in the state of Paraíba, she is the youngest of nine children from a simple family. Her mother was a seamstress and her father worked in the fields, on weekends as a repentista, he wrote verses and played the guitar for people in the neighboring neighborhoods where he lived. At the age of one, she moved with her family to Recife and at the age of six, she sang her first song, the xóte „The smell of Carolina“ by Luis Gonzaga. She performed in several children's programs such as the program „No Mundo da Criança“, on radio and TV „Jornal do Comércio“ and also on TV „Clube de Pernambuco“. At the age of twelve she won the revelation singer award in Recife, in the same year she participated in the program „Cidade Contra Cidade“ by presenter Silvio Santos in São Paulo where she met the pianist and television judge José Fernandes. This encounter opened doors for him to the most sophisticated stages of São Paulo nightlife. During the 70's he was part of the bands, „Coisa Nossa“, „Super Som TA“ and „Banda Reveillon“ as crooner. For four years he worked alongside the singer and composer Toquinho, where he recorded the CDs „Made in Coração“ and „Canção para Todos as Crianças“; and saxophonist Sadao Watanabe on albums and shows throughout Latin America, Asia and Europe.
