Artist
Born in Glasgow 11th August 1916. In school choir for his first experience of singing. Left school at 14, various jobs, then became an acrobat on the variety circuit. Injuries caused him to learn drumming and acting to give him scope. In Glasgow theatres for a while then BBC radio plays. In 1941 he became a dance band vocalist, adding to his repertoire, and was on a number of recordings. Over the years continued to appear on stage, both acting and musicals, and more recordings. Many and varied appearances on TV shows, radio, and branched out with character acting in small parts in various films in the 1950s and 60s. Had a long and reasonably successful career, always in work, but never really hitting the big time. Some of his recordings were comedic, such as 'Pretty Polly Perkins'.
