Bennie James & The Hesitant Few is and Indie-Pop band from Wollongong, NSW. The band sound is likened alot to Paul McCartney, Brendan Benson, Bob Evans, The Whitlams & Ben Folds. 2006 saw 17 year old Ben Szota take the stage for the first time as Bennie James in his hometown on the South Coast of NSW, Australia. In this small town, music venues were hard to come by which prompted his movement to Wollongong in early 2007, where he would study music and continue his songwriting. It was here Bennie met Alex Barker (Drums), Ben McLean (Piano) & Jacob Pember (Bass). Late 2007, Ben McLean joined Bennie on stage with two other musicians in Bennie James second ever full band performance. Early 2008, Jacob Pember joined the band on Bass which currently contained 3 Bens (Ben Harnwell on drums). March 2008 saw the addition of Alex Barker on drums and ‘Bennie James & the Hesitant Few’ were born. The band played a majority of gigs in their hometown of Wollongong, but also branched out along the coast to Newcastle, Canberra, Sydney and across the Shoalhaven. It was late 2008 the band set out to record their first ep, ‘Laugh!Jump!Cry!Love!’, which was finished early the next year, and has received some airplay on Triple J for the track ‘Bubbleboy’. 2009 the band was joined by two members after the departure of drummer Barker. Ryan Beveridge first joined the lineup in January 2009 where the band supported Aria award winners ‘The Whitlams’, while Nikolai Russo joined the band after the EP lau
