Formed in San Francisco's Lower Haight district in 2005, Beaten by Them are a predominantly instrumental band blending electric guitar with cello, samples, bass and drums. The band's music is generally described as transcending genre and has been referenced critically as "chamber rock" and "post rock with soul". The band's sound draws from widespread influences including jazz, rock, electronic, classical and world music.
