Bastard finders was a collaboration of experimental musicians based in West Philadelphia 1989-1995. The original lineup included: David Barnes (Barnz) - guitars, percussion, keyboards, samples, piano Charles Cohen - Buchla analog synth Norman Carter - bass, percussion, slide whistle Martin Hebel - keyboards, bass, vocals, percussion Kevin Murphy - trumpet, french horn This ensemble was primarily a recording ensemble, with a couple of gigs here and there during their tenure. In addition to the core members listed above, there have been many excellent visiting artists on their recordings, including: Mike Breakey - didgeridoo Eliot Levin - sax, flute and other reed instruments Brendan Jones - violin Steve Coxe - keyboards, percussion Chip Howard - vocals, percussion Glenn Leonard - percussion Jim McShea - percussion, sampled sounds Maria Kyd. - Keyboards Stephen Barnes - percussion, vocals John Howard - acoustic guitar, bass, rhodes piano Chris Jones - percussion Terry Brann - vocals Matt Haggett - percussion Leah Larkin - percussion David Forlano - electronics & manipulations David Champion - trombone The group's complete discography includes: Bastard Finders - 1991 Got One! - 1992 Undergrowth (live album) - 1993 Shing! - 1994 Keepers - 2005 The core members - Barnz, Carter, Cohen and Murphy still get together for an occasional jam in Philadelphia.
