Basstion was formed in 1988 by Ryszard Sarbak who earlier (1983) co-founded better known Reggae band Gedeon Jerubbaal. Basstion plays Reggae inspired by ska, rock, jazz, and dub. Band was most active during 1983 and 1993 when was present at all significant music festivals and venues in Poland. They also played at festivals in Czech Republic, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine. During 1995 to 2001 band played just occasionally and then on several major music festivals in Poland. Core members of the band are: Ryszard Sarbak (trumpet, composer), Przemysław “JAH-JAH” Frankowski (vocal, texts), Tomasz “STEVE” Wójtowicz (guitar), Tomasz Senger (percussions). Pozostali muzycy współpracujący z grupą to: Zbyszek Kendzia (bass guitar), Andrzej Strzeszek (piano (instrumenty klawiszowe?)), DJ ERSKY (secquencer, mixer, live act, turntables).
