Artist
Bassi Fox, the frontman and producer of the critically acclaimed Mt. Wolf, emerges from a 2-year hibernation amidst the hills and moors of North Devon with a change in genre and a trove of new music. Breaking away from the folktronica roots that Mt. Wolf planted, this project sees Bassi embracing a livelier sonic landscape reminiscent of artists such as Fred Again, Jamie XX, and Bonobo. ‘I was beginning to feel fragmented in the city; pulled in too many musical directions at once. I temporarily paused my work with other artists and my band to take refuge in the countryside and figure out what I needed to do to find a singular purpose again. My first instinct was to lean into the style of music that we had been making as Mt. Wolf - guitars, live drums, vocals you know… At the same time, most of the music I was listening to was dance and electronic music . Perhaps through a combination of my self-imposed isolation and the growing divisions I was seeing on the political and social stages, I felt compelled to make something more upbeat that would hopefully beckon bodies to move as one and invite heads to nod in unity. I still have some more downbeat tracks up my sleeve though, both with my Mt. Wolf brothers and for this project…’ The roadmap sets forth an ambitious plan, with a release scheduled every four to six weeks, including collaborations with Henry Green.
