Born Reginald Footman, Barshem is a true Bronx tale; still in the making. At the early age of nine; his main agenda was getting paid to help his family. Packing bags at grocery stores was the start of his entrepreneurial journey His neighborhood was a mixture of a lot of people with different nationalities, different backgrounds He watched all of that and learned how to adapt". He also learned different cultures and languages by dealing with all of my folks from the hood. Barshem speaks four different languages and enjoys his ability to communicate on many different levels. That love for communicating and watching led Barshem to poetry and rhyming,it wasnt until his cousin made his first rap record on an independent label, that Barshem saw a new career. Only 11 years old, Barshem decided to write original rhymes and started rapping with the group, Energy Posse. This posse eventually grew into the U Mob, He merged with the group called Omega, with two others members of U Mob. In the mid 90s things really started to jump off for Barshem as Alpha Omega. A two man group, they opened up for some of the industry's hottest groups; Jay Z, Lil Kim, Big Pun, Fat Joe, just to name a few. Now a solo artist, Barshem's first claim to fame came when he was at the right place at the right time, Barshem was uptown on 145th and 8th Avenue, waiting for a shorty, when a movie producer named Ya Ya stepped to me and told him that he could be Tupac's stand in.
