Artist
Barry Coope is an English folk singer. He was a member of folk band Muckram Wakes in the 1980s and of the vocal folk trio Coope Boyes & Simpson from 1990 until the trio disbanded in 2017. In the early 1980s, Coope was a member of innovative English folk band Muckram Wakes. Later he played with the folk 'supergroup' Blue Murder. Around 1990, Coope helped form Coope Boyes & Simpson, a British vocal folk trio. The group comprised singers Barry Coope, Jim Boyes (formerly of Swan Arcade), and Lester Simpson, and almost all of their music was sung entirely a capella, although they have occasionally used accordion, guitar and drums very sparingly on recordings. Their sound was rich and often featured unusual vocal harmonies. Coope also enjoyed a long-time collaboration with fellow English folk music legend John Tams.
