Banda do Sol is a Progressive Rock act formed back in 1980 at São Paulo, Brazil. Their initial lineup consisted on Moacir Jr. (vocals, guitars), Fábio Fernandes (drums) and Turco (bass). After taking part of two compilations, they recorded and released their self-titled album in 1982. In 1983, without a good financial support from a record company, the group decided to split. Moacir Jr. then started a solo career and worked with other musicians like Guilherme Arantes, Sá & Guarabyra, Renato Teixeira, Beto Guedes, Walter Franco and 14 Bis. Fábio went to study Medicine and Turco moved to London. During the 90's, Moacir and Fábio were reunited again and started rehearsing and composing new songs. In 2009, they reformed the band. Joined by Cesar Rodrigues (bass), Fram Simi (guitars) and Allex Bessa (keyboards) they hit the studio to record new material. The result was the Billy Sherwood produced album Tempo, issued in the summer of 2010. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
