Artist
Bananaman ( W. Buchanan) emerged on the Jamaican soundsystem scene in the mid 80s as a dubplate voicing artist. His lazy but deadly style killed many a sound because of the strength of his lyrics and delivery. When the soundclash lyrics craze transferred from acetate to vinyl in the mid to late 80s, Bananaman voiced a so called soundkiller 45s and albums for King Tubby, King Jammy and other producers. After that craze died out he moved back to Ocho Rios and linked up with local producer and nightclubowner Courtney Cole. Occasionally he recorded for Cole´s Roof International label throughout the 90s, but mainly he voiced dubs in the Roof Int. Dubcutting studio. Banana man died in 2002 after falling off a wall on which he was sleeping at 8 Ball Bar in Ocho Rios.
