Bal Des Boiteux is an instrumental band. It works like a lab where four musicians/composers try to distillate a group sound out of their different musical backgrounds. This might explain the excessive amounts of information and musical relations, and the unavoidable use of clichés in the repertoire. To put it in more understandable words : bal des boiteux investigates the effect of a dense mix of pop, folk and jazz on people and smaller animals. Bal Des Boiteux are: - Jeroen Baert : violin - Joris Blanckaert : accordions - Lieven Nijs : guitars & bagpipe - Tim Vandenbergh : double bass - Boris De Laet : drums > Bio The idea of bal des boiteux was created on a musical trip to sweden -about five years ago- in an atmosphere of scandinavian, balkan and african folkmusic. In the next couple of years, the band went through some line-up changes which influenced the band's sound and vision. Joris Blanckaert (also boomfanfare) and Lieven Nijs (also boomfanfare) slowly returned to their poppy backgrounds while Tim Vandenbergh (also assunta mano) started his jazz-education. Jeroen Baert (also sioen, humble grumble, boomfanfare), a classical and jazz educated violin player, got in touch with bal des boiteux through boomfanfare and soon completed the bdb line-up. Meanwhile bdb had recorded four demos in as many years, got some airplay on national radio and played as many gigs as possible.
