Founded in Boulder, Colorado in 2009 by Tom Blind, Julian Farrior, and Dale Thoms, this game studio was best known for their many chart-topping mobile games– including DragonVale and its various spin-offs. In late 2019, Backflip was shut down by its parent company Hasbro. All but merely two of its games were discontinued and removed from the App Store; one of these two being DragonVale, which was picked up by the studio DECA Games– who continue to run the game to this day. DragonVale's iconic soundtrack was composed by Aubrey Hodges. When the game re-released, the soundtrack was revamped as well, using real instruments rather than synthesizers and digital samples.
