Baby Talk is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 2010. The genesis of Baby Talk was a series of e-mailed GarageBand demos between former bandmates/college friends Joel Cusumano (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Clos (bass, vocals), who developed their pop/rock chops huddled over laptops and faulty audio interfaces in dim apartment rooms -- the eventual addition of Zach Mathews (guitar, formerly of Eureka Gold) and Roy Murakami (drums) completed the lineup. Sonically, the band evokes the skewed pop immediacy of late-'70s and '80s power pop and jangle pop (think the dB's, the Three O'Clock, Game Theory) -- throw in a healthy love of the tense, neurotic Anglocism of Elvis Costello and the wiry punk leads of the Replacements and the Voidoids to boot. Baby Talk produced its first EP, Cassette, with Greg Ashley (the Gris-Gris, Sir Lord Von Raven), and the recordings were self-released in July 2011. The band can be contacted via its Facebook page.
