The Babak Nemati Quartet consists of openminded, experienced and highly experimental modern jazz musicians from Switzerland, Spain and Iran. Shortly after the group was founded in early 2011 by Persian leader and guitarist Babak Nemati in Zurich, Switzerland, the four dedicated members found themselves locked in a recording studio, creating their first album with seven original compositions. By September 2012, Seven Good Wishes had made its way into the catalogue of the Swiss jazz label Altrisuoni. Shortly thereafter the quartet, consisting of Babak Nemati (guitar), Carles Peris (saxes, flutes), Beat Gisler (electric bass) and Olaf Ryter (drums), embarked on a successful onandoff club tour across Western Europe, which lasted until spring 2014, to promote the album. - Babak Nemati was born in 1976 in Tehran, Iran. At the age of 8, he moved to Switzerland with his family and, upon turning 14, took up the guitar. Having initially taught himself, Babak started to take classical guitar lessons and subsequently began to explore different musical styles such as blues, rock, funk and pop. His main influences were Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and James Brown. After gaining some experience with school bands, he founded his own ensembles. Recognising that music played an extremely important role in his life, Babak Nemati decided to study music.
