BLAZ is a project initiated by Marco Hijl(a Dutch saxophoneplayer/composer/producer). After years of doing sessionwork with bands and dj's he decided to start a project of his own where he could experiment with different musicians and styles. Throughout his musical journey he met a lot of musicians and tasted different styles of music and in his way of playing the saxophone you can hear he studied jazz but also played with dj's in the house scene. The music of BLAZ is a blend of all these influences. It's music with a high energy level, lots of horns and hard-hitting percussion. You can hear Brazilian and African influences but also influences from other parts of the world. There is some familiarity with bands such as: Moloko, Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada and Black Eyed Peas.
