B-SYDES was once in a band you know. Then he wasn’t in a band. Then he was. Then surprisingly, he wasn’t. We could go on. This is neither a new or unfamiliar story for anyone who has ever dipped a toe into the music industry. So after both enjoying and enduring the unpredictability of playing alongside other artists, B-SYDES - the stage name of the Cambridgeshire dwelling BENJAMIN SYDES decided to strike out on his own in 2009 and is yet to look back. The songwriter’s first EP 'Handshakes Turn to Headlocks' was self released at the end of 2010 and has proven to be a sampler of what he was capable of. It was said to have ‘Perfectly showcased his ultra stripped down folk ditties’ by the organisers of 2000 Trees Festival, an ever growing Cheltenham festival which won the ‘Grassroots Festival Award 2010’. Further to this, B-SYDES had the pleasure of performing at this year’s festival, proving to be the biggest stage of his brief solo career to date. B-SYDES is now set to follow his previous effort with yet to be released 2nd EP ‘Wrecked Vessels’. A release that shows all the progression you would expect from an artist growing both in confidence and stature. With tracks like ‘Wrecked Vessels’ racing through the constant up-tempo feel using percussion as a subtle addition, to the more gentle and slow paced side of the singer/songwriter in ‘The Jealous South’. All of it shows his display of complimentary guitar work at it’s best. B-SYDES has so far shared the stage with the likes
