Axel Boy, real name Alex Joyce, is a dubstper producer and DJ from Bristol, UK. Axel Boy first burst onto the scene in 2014 with his Most Additive dubstep release ‘Do You Need It/Out Of Love’, and over the years Axel Boy has become a firm favourite within the mammoth US dubstep scene but also make waves in the British-based bassline scene and more recently the drum and bass scene. He tells in an interview with UKF that when he first got into producing music he was actually doing performing arts at Bath College and growing up he was always listening to electronic music. His first real experience of bass was when his dad bought a hi-fi, which had a subwoofer on it. He listened to a Shy-FX "Original Nutta" and that music was inspirational to the point where he felt that he could do it too. He was into the dubstep and grime released during that time, early to mid 2000. Originally cementing his sound in Dubstep, collaborating with Borgore & releasing on various of the biggest labels in the sound- he has taken his sound further into a new wave sound of 4x4 dubstep-inspired bassline & bass house.
