Awtaru Kebede is a gifted-energetic Ethiopian Gospel singer. He is from Misgana Church, one of the many Evangelical Churches in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Awtaru's songs are so strong and spirit filled. He has 4 regular albums, one special record and several other collectively sung records with many other Gospel singers. His earliest songs include, YANE BEMALEDA EGZIABHER ENEN SIREDA, YALALEFKUT MENALE BANTE GETA, then shortly afterwards his second album-a great breakthrough cameout with songs such as BE AMBALAY TEKEMTEH TIFERDALEH, SALSEGA MENOR LEMJALEHU, ALAYEHUM AND KEN SITKEDAGN, SILET ALEBIGN YEGETAYE...No wonder it has been heard through out the country, even among those who desperately cannot resist Ethiopian Penteys. Awtaru sings lots of worship and praise songs such as YEBELAYNEH YEBELAY, and the latest album, i.e, No #4, which he released after he has been to Europe on a service is full of blessing songs. AMLIKE ALTEGB ALKUH GETAYE, LELITU NEGA, TENANTIM EYESUS, MENEW TEKETELEGN TELATE KEHUALA,....and others in collection include KUM NEGEREGNA NEH, FIKRIHIN ALDEFRIM, etc . Awtaru has got a kind of different style, amazingly his name Awtaru means "a string on musical instruments" He is a great model for modern Amharic Gospel singers, just as the great singers like Tesfaye Gabbiso, Tamirat Haile, Dereje Kebede.ENDRIAS...who have left legacy and are still inspiring the youth.
