August Burns Red is an American metalcore band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, formed in 2003. The band was formed while most members were in their final year of high school, with early practice sessions taking place in drummer Matt Greiner’s family farm buildings. The lineup of guitarists John Benjamin "JB" Brubaker and Brent Rambler, drummer Matt Greiner, lead vocalist Jake Luhrs, and bassist Dustin Davidson has remained consistent since 2006. The band is recognized for technical guitar riffs, heavy breakdowns, odd-meter and progressive rhythms, growled vocals, and a blend of melody and heaviness. Their influences include Between the Buried and Me, Misery Signals, Hopesfall, Meshuggah, Poison the Well, and Symphony in Peril. August Burns Red released their first EP, "Looks Fragile After All", through CI Records in 2004. Original vocalist Jon Hershey departed the same year and was replaced by Josh McManness. The band signed to Solid State Records in 2005 and released their first full-length album, "Thrill Seeker", on November 8, 2005. Drummer Matt Greiner received an endorsement from Truth Custom Drums following the album's release. McManness and original bassist Jordan Tuscan left in 2006 and were replaced by Jake Luhrs and Dustin Davidson, respectively. The band’s second album, "Messengers", was released on June 19, 2007, marking Luhrs’ debut as lead vocalist and reaching number 81 on the Billboard 200. To promote the album, August Burns Red toured extensively in North Ame
