There are several artists under the name "Atone". One is Andy Fitzgerald who has been making electronic dub music using this moniker since 1993. Another is a sludge metal band from Oakland, CA. A third is Antoine Monzonis-Calvert, and a fourth is Mexican DJ/producer Alain Jasso Martinez. In 2025 a new Portuguese Doom Metal band - also named Atone - released their debut album. Andy Fitzgerald / Atone critically acclaimed albums since 1993 include; Crucified, Stitched Up, and Then Some; Atonement; Brutalism; and Pear Shaped. Atone from Oakland, CA is a sludge/doom four-piece featuring members of Body Void and Swamp Witch formed in 2017. They released their first self-titled recording in 2018. Antoine Monzonis-Calvet (based in the country near Angers - France) has been an active member of the electronic / experimental / post-rock French music scene for almost ten years. This multi-instrumentalist has regularly been releasing his work over the past few years - with the different bands he’s in or through his own solo projects. Atone is one of those solo adventures: in fact, it is his most personal one. In spring 2004, Antoine Monzonis-Calvet released Un Jour EP (« A Day EP ») on Autres Directions In Music, 5 tracks that meant a lot and got critical acclaim. A year later, the track ’Qobac Sine’ (from Un Jour EP) was re-released on Various Artists - Cottage Industries 4, Meadow by the English label Neo Ouija.
